Creating intentional, purposeful, and fun photo experiences for graduating seniors and couples on their wedding day (when I'm not being a mama or hanging out on the beach).
Something I get asked for ALL. THE. TIME. is location recommendations. Some photographers provide a list of preferred locations upon booking. However, I personally choose not to send over an initial “location guide” because I love to dig a little bit deeper!
Let Me Explain
My goal is for your photos to represent YOU! If you’ve grown up on a family farm and love that lifestyle, want sentiment in your session, or simply wish to carry on the legacy, your family farm could be the perfect location for your session! If you absolutely love the island life, fishing, and boating, the beach will feel like home to you in your photos. If you are super girly and love lots of color + florals, a location with a rustic barn is not going to be a good fit for you. You get the gist??
After I’ve had the chance to get to know you more, I will be able to recommend locations that are perfect for you – your unique style, interests, and personality!
One more important thing to note – always trust your photographer! As a photographer, we will see things a little differently than you (and that’s okay! It’s our job!!) Although a specific area at your chosen location may not seem *ideal* or look like the best place to you, just have a little faith that the end result will be your exact vision, hehe!
See What I Mean?!
“I really like flowers, nature, and hiking. I have more of a boho style.”
Location Recommendation: North Carolina Museum of Art
FUN FACT: NCMOA is one of my favorite places for brush + tall grass, wildflowers, open fields with pretty greenery + trees. I knew this would be the perfect location for Colleen, and when I mentioned it she was absolutely set on going there! When we arrived, EVERYTHING had been cut 🙁 Plan B … I spotted this little patch of dead grass at the bottom of a hill with a tiny bit of GLOW. I know she thought I was crazy, but I knew I could bring her vision to life in this spot!
“I love lots of color, but my favorites are blue and pink. I’m going to college in Raleigh, so I think it would be fun to incorporate the city I’m moving to soon.”
Location Recommendation: Downtown Raleigh
“Thinking I want somewhere with ‘Charleston Vibes.’ I also need a picture for my senior slideshow at school, so I’m thinking somewhere with a more neutral background and I’ll wear either a white or blue top.”
Location Recommendation: Washington, NC
“I really want the beach in a white dress, but I also have some fun outfits with color I’d like at a different location. I like the windy oak trees at the beach and downtown vibes.”
